A mini break to Wells - Day 3 - Stiffkey (웰스 별장으로의 여행 제 3일-스티프키)

사랑하는 엄마 아빠,

3일째에는 스티프키(Stiffkey)라는 곳으로 걸어서 갔어. 웰스에서 동쪽으로 거의1~ 한시간 반 정도를 천천히 해안 습지를 걸어 가니까 딱 좋더라. 날씨가 흐려서 좋은 사진은 많이 못 찍었어. 스티프키라는 곳도 해안가에 있어. 지도를 보면 알겠지만 한국 지도에 찍힌 부산 같지?

We decided to walk to Stiffkey which takes about 1~1.5 hours on foot through coastal marshes towards east of Wells. It was a bit cloudy but being outside with a beloved one meant a lot in itself. Anyway, the name 'Stiffkey' means 'stump island, island with stumps of trees'. Stiffkey is also famous for cockles or the old name of "Stewkey blues". These are stained blue by the mud in which they live. The locals seem to call their civil parish either Stiffkey or Stewkey.

 

 별장에서 걸어가다가 알파카 농장을 봤어. 너무 귀여워서 몇컷 찍어 봤슴당.

 We walked by an alpaca farm on our way so I took some pics of the cute ones.  

(해안가 습지 - Coastal marshes)

 (스티프키에 거의 도착했어. We are nearly at Stiffkey.)

 (스티프키에 도착하자 마자 '레드 라이언' 이라는 펍에 가서 에일 두 잔과 맛나는 과자먹으며 찰칵! - We went straight to Red Lion which is an independent pub whose name is very popular for pubs and had some great ale with a lovely bag of chips. So worth the long walk!)

술 두잔 했다고 빨개진 얼굴로 버스를 타고 별장으로 돌아와서 저녁을 먹었다. 크리스가 준비한 특제 저녁 식사! I had a very red face again only after two half pints of ale and we came home on Coast Hopper. Chris prepared a lovely dinner. He is such a good cook!

(메인으로 찐 케일과 그릴에 구운 큰 버섯을 곁들인 볼로네즈 스파게티 - The main dish was homemade bolognese spaghetti with steam boiled kale and a grilled big mushroom. My mum in law makes best spag bol in the world.) 

 저녁 먹고 부둣가로 산책을 나갔다. 저녁 7시 40분 정도 인데도 아직 하늘이 밝고 선이 너무 이뻐서 사진 몇개 찍어 봤어. - After dinner, we went for a nice walk to the quayside. It was about 7 40 pm but was still quite light and the sky was so beautifully colored with sunset.

 아래 사진에 돛에 불켜진거 보이지? 이 배는 레스토랑이야. 지금은 조수가 빠져나가서 돛 부분만 보이는데 조수가 차오르면 배 전체가 보여. You see the daintily lit sail? It is a part of a ship which is used as a restaurant. More of the vessel emerges from under the water when the tide is out. We haven't been there yet but am sure we will at some point.

 2013년 12월에 이동네 홍수 나서 침수 피해가 좀 대단했었대. 아래 사진에 공사중인 빌딩이 홍수 피해 때문에 지금 공사중인거래. There had been abnormal tidal surge in the coastal areas including Wells-next-the-sea of North Norfolk which damaged many shops and houses. This building in the picture with scaffolding around it was a direct victim of the flood. 

 어쨋든, 저녁 경관 이쁘지? Nonetheless, it is a beautiful evening, isn't it?
