Day trip to Southend-on-sea, Essex (사우스엔드 온 씨로의 당일 치기 방문기)
사랑하는 엄마 아빠,
이 날은 '사우스엔드 온 씨'로 시아버지 어머니인 실비아와 시아버지 여동생 식구를 만나뵈러 갔어. 노리치에서 남쪽으로 운전해서 2시간 정도 걸려서 갔어. 일요일 당일치기로 간단히 다녀왔어.
We went to meet Sylvia, my father in law's mum, and his sister's family in Southend-On-Sea which is a 2 hour drive from Norwich to the south. We went there just for the day on a sunny Sunday.
이 지역은 19세기 초에 해변가 리조트로 과거엔 인기가 많았었지만, 이곳 해안이 개펄로 구성되어 있어서 만조 시 에도 깊이가 높지가 않았다네. 이런 이유로 보트가 들어오는데 한계가 있어서 이 문제를 해결하기 위해서 '사우스 엔드 잔교' 가 건설되었답니당. 지금은 세계에서 가장 긴 플레져 잔교로 유명하다고 하구. 어쨋든 지금은 그냥 조용한 런던 근교 해변 휴양지 정도 느낌 인거 같어. 그래도 아직도 사우스엔드 온씨의 관광 수입은 꽤나 된다고 해.
Southend-On-Sea was very popular as a seaside resort until early 19th century. But as its coast consists of large mudflats, the sea is never deep even at full tide. Large boats were unable to stop at Southend near to the beach and no boats at all were able to stop at low tide which meant many potential visitors would travel past Southend and go to other resorts. This is how the pier came to life to counter this trend. Now Southend Pier is known as the longest pleasure pier in the world.
어쨋든, 이 날은 그냥 사진 몇컷 찍고 맛있는 점심 먹었는데..점심 사진이 아쉽게도 없네.
Anyway, I took only a few pics and I forgot to take pics of my tasty lunch.

Below is a description of Southend-On-Sea's nature reserves and I took a photo of it because I liked the little map on it which shows where we are.
그동네 사는 시조카 집에 잠시 들렀는데 토끼를 두마리 키우거든. 그중 도니라는 녀석이랑 찰칵 해 봤어. 아기처럼 안기는게 어찌나 귀여운지~
We also went to see my father in law's sister whose daughter has two rabbits. In the picuture below is Donnie in my arms. He likes to feel snug.
사우스엔드 온 씨는 여기서 끝. 사진을 많이 못찍은게 아쉽네~
Sadly, this is it for our little weekend visit to Southend-On-Sea. I was too busy spending time with father in law's side of family.
