영국 노리치 하늘(Norwich Gal)

 사랑하는 엄마 아빠,

영국 도착하고 2주 만에 시부모님 별장으로 5일 정도 여행을 갔어. 그 동네이름이 좀 긴데 일단 '웰스(Wells-next-the-sea) 라고 부르자긍.

We went on a mini break for 5 days to my parents in law's beautiful cottage in Wells-next-the-sea.

As shown on the map, Wells is on the North Norfolk coast and it is about 1 hour drive from Norwich to the North.

 별장 근처에 이렇게 작은 교회가 있어. 우리나라 과거에 각 마을마다 마을회관 같은게 있었듯이 영국은 작은 마을이 이렇게 교회를 중심으로 지어져 있어. 이날 날씨가 흐려서 사진이 음산하게 나온게 아쉽네.

There is a small church near the cottage. In the old days in Korea, each village would have a town hall at the entrance and English villages seemed to have been built around churches. It is a shame that the weather was overcast making this church look eerie.

 별장 도착해서 정리하고 근처에 있는 글로브 호텔 바에서 술한잔 하기로 했어. 이 호텔이 최근에 내부 공사를 해서 마지막으로 왔을때하고는 사뭇 다르게 굉장히 모던하게 변했어. 이 호텔에 저녁 먹으러 갔었는데 사진은 다음 장에 올릴게.

After we unloaded our bags, we decided to go for a pint at the Globe Inn which is a 5 min walk from the cottage. This hotel recently had a facelift so it looks very modern and simple compared to its traditional pub appeal prior to the renovation. (More pics will be uploaded on my Day 2 part.)

여기서 영국에서는 에일을 많이 마시는데, 탄산이 들어 있지 않은 조용한 맥주야. 칼로리는 대단하겠지만 너무 맛있어. 애드넘이라고하는 양조회사에서 만든 '유령선'이라는 에일을 마셨는데 이게 내가 제일 좋아하는 영국 에일이 될거 같네. 한국에서도 요즘에는 에일바람이 조금씩 불더라..진로 소주에서 만든 에일이 있는데(이름 잊어버렸다) 나쁘지 않드라구. 나중에 영국에서 내가 맛본 술도 따로 장을 만들어서 소개해 볼게.

In England, people drink naturally carbonated beer called ale and this is how true beer should taste! I had half a pint of Ghost Ship by Adnams and this will be my favorite ale in the UK from now on. In Korea, the craft beer market is growing but is still tiny. But I truely believe that I will be able to find good and great craft beer or ale in Korean market sooner or later because once Koreans have ale they will not forget the amazing taste. And everyone knows how koreans are obsessed with fried chicken and beer! I will try and write about a variety of alcohol I have come across in the UK at a later stage.

어쨋든, 술한잔씩 하고 집에 와서 저녁 먹으러 나가기 전에 조금 쉬었어. 별장 뒤쪽으로 예쁜 정원이 있고 날씨 좋으면 바베큐 해서 먹음 너무 좋아.

Anyway, we came back to the cottage after a pint for Chris and half a pint for me and rested a bit before we went out for fish and chips for dinner. There is a little garden at the back of the house and it is great to have BBQ lunch there when the sun is out.

집에 있으니까 소파에 누워서 그냥 쉬고 싶더라. 술 반잔 했다고 약간 취기가 될기도 하구.

By this time, I was feeling a bit tipsy being such a light weight and wanted to rest on a sofa and fall asleep.

저녁을 먹어야겠다는 강한 집념으로 힘을 내서 나갔어. 저녁 메뉴는 영국 음식으로 유명한 피쉬 앤 칩스(튀긴 물고기와 튀긴 감자)! 웰스에서 유명한 프렌치즈 라는데에 갔어. 아래 사진에나온것 같이 물고기 한마리 장만해서 통으로 튀기고 감자튀김까지 같이 나와. 물고기 튀김이 내 얼굴 사이즈 만했던거 같어. 제일 큰 사이즈 시켜서 크리스랑 나눠 먹었어.

Driven by strong will to have fish and chips at the famous 'Frenches', I got myself up and left the house. We ordered large cod and mushy peas. The fried fish was very fresh and huge at the size of my face, and mushy peas were warm and just rightly cooked. Yum! I could eat this every day.

이 프렌치즈라는 식당이 바닷가 바로 옆에 있어서 정박해 있는 배가 바로 창밖으로 보여.

Frenches is located on the quayside so I can see ships anchored out the restaurant window.

배부르게 저녁 먹고 집에가서 기절해서 잔거 같다. ㅋ 재미있는 첫날이었어.

엄마 아빠 즐거운 하루 보내구~ 사랑해요~

After eating, we came home and I think I was out like a light.

It was a great start of our holiday.
