영국 노리치 하늘(Norwich Gal)

엄마 아빠,

이제 마지막 날이네. 친구한테 이별을 고하고 혼자서 유명한 내셔널 갤러리로 갔어.

영국 런던 트라팔가 스퀘어에 있고 1824년 개관했다고 해. 입장료는 무료야. 여기는 그게 좋은거 같아. 양질의 예술작품을 돈을 내지 않고 구경 할 수 있다는거 자체가 아름 답지 않아? 에비앙을 무료로 마시고 영혼의 치킨스프 같은 거지. ㅋ

It is my last day in London. I said good bye to my friend and went to National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. National Gallery was founded in 1824 and admission is free. It is a previlege to have free admission to see arts of high standard. It is like drinking Evian free of charge to feed my soul a great bowl of chicken soup.

I took a photo of National Gallery while walking towards it from Charing Cross station.

아래 사진 중앙에 파란색 꼬끼요가 인상적이어서 찍었어.

The blue rooster statue was impressive.

마지막날 날씨가 좋았는데 이상하게 사진들이 흐리게 나오더라구.

The weather was good on my last day in London but somehow all my pics came out all very dark.

이사진 넘 이쁘지? Isn't this picture very pretty?

자유로운 영혼을 가진 음악가가 악기로 길거리 연주하니까 사람들이 하나씩 몰려들고...

A musician of free soul was playing his musical instrument in the front yard of the gallery. People started gathering around him bit by bit.

건물 한번 웅장하다 그치... Such a magnificent building, isn't it?

사람들이 어떤 길거리 공연 본다고 떼거지로 몰려들어 있어.

There was a herd of people watching a performance.

이사람... 높은 자전거 같은데 서서 칼로 고난도의 공연을 땀을 뻘뻘 흘리면서 보여주고 있었어.

This performer was showing his high level of performance on a high bike with knives.

그 와중에도, "나는 이걸로 먹고 사니까, 그냥 가시지 마시고 금전적으로 도움을 주시고 가셔요." 를 몇번이고 외치더라.

Whilst busy doing knife feat, he did not forget to say, "This is what I do for a living so please don't just go away. Help me with some money."

관광객들이 분수대 앞에서 평화롭게 쉬고 있어. Tourists are resting around and on a fountain.

갤러리 안에 들어가서 두시간 정도 넔놓고 다녔어. 정말 크더라.. 어떤 그림들은 그냥 앞에서 다리 아플때 까지 서있을 정도로 장엄하고 감동 스럽고 아름답더라.

I wandered around in the gallery for about two hours. It is huge inside. The paintings were so amazing that I stood before some of them until my legs couldn't take the standing.

이제 리버풀 역으로 다시 가야 할 시간이 되었어. 천천히 걸어서 나와서 토튼햄 코트로드 지하철 역으로 걸어갔어. It was not time to go back to Liverpool station to go back to Norwich. I walked out slowly and started walking towards Tottenham Court Road station.

토튼햄 코트역에서 한국식당 가서 떡볶이 한사라 흡입하고 리버풀 역으로 쟈철 타고 갔어. 아래는 리버풀 역 내부 사진이야. 꽤 크지?  이층에 보면 막스엔 스펜서 같은 수퍼마켓도 있고 옷가게도 있고..아랫층엔 AMT 라든지 스타벅스같은 커피숍 그리고 먹거리 등을 파는 가게들이 있어.

I went to a Korean restaurant for a plate of ddeokbbokki(rice cake and fish cake with noodles in spicy chili sauce) and devoured it and then I went to Liverpool station on tube. Below are inside of Liverpool station. As you can see, on the second floor there are shops including M&S and on the ground floor there are coffee shops like AMT Coffee or Starbucks and shops with goodies.

머리 맡에 저렇게 오고가는 기차와 시간들이 떠...플랫폼이 엄청 많은게 느껴지지?

There was a hugh board above my haed showing trains and their times with their platform numbers.

이렇게 반나절을 보내고 나는 다시 노리치로 돌아가는 기차에 몸을 실었어. 행복한 4일 이었던 거 같애. 하지만 다시 스윗홈으로 돌아가서 크리스 보고 싶다고 하면 앙큼하다고 할거야? ㅋㅋ

I spend my morning to the fullest and got myself on the train to go back to Norwich. I had very full and happy 4 days. But I want to go back to our sweet sweet home to be with Chris. heehee

오늘은 런던 여행기 2탄. 3일째 에는 런던 관광지로도 유명한 캠든타운으로 향했어. 

Day 3 - Camden Town

참 먼저 런던의 복잡한 지하철 노선도 좀 보여 줄게. 내가 노리치에서 기차타고 도착한 곳은 분홍색 라인 오른쪽 끝 근처에 Liverpool Street(리버풀역) 이고 내 친구 집은 그 역에서 대각선으로 오른 쪽 상단으로 보면 흰색 라인에 Homerton (호머튼)이라고 적힌곳이야.

Let me first show you the complex tube map of London. I arrived at Liverpool Street station on pink line located on the middle right of the map and my friend lives at Homerton where you can see on the white line(national rail) located top right of the map.   

캠든 타운 가기 전에 이틀 밤 신세진 친구가 사는 호머튼(런던)에 주말장이 선다고 해서 같이 가봤어. 음 요즘 서울에서 가끔씩 열리는 오가닉 마켓 느낌이라면 좀 이해하기 쉬울까? 오가닉 마켓 가보면 오가닉 음식이라든지 홈메이드 쿠키 혹은 핸드 메이드 주얼리나 옷 같은거 팔잖아. 여기도 그렇다고 보면 될 것 같네.

A friend of mine lives in Homerton and I stayed with her for two nights. (Thank you so much, Gio!) There seems to be a market set up for Sundays in her area so we went to have a look. Sunday markets are similar to organic markets in Seoul which are attended by independent shops or individuals with interesting or organic or homemade food and handmade or interesting things to sell.

북적 북적하지? 아래 사진 왼쪽 처럼 텐트같이 해 놓고 이것 저것 팔어.

It was quite crowded. Each shop has their own stall like shown on the picture below.

이분은 맛있는 파이를 귀엽게 쌓아 놓고 파시드라구. 그래서 유혹에 견디다 못해 하나 사먹었어.

This lady sells tasty pies, tarts, sausages, etc and I couldn't help but getting something from her.

그래서 결국 채식주의자용 스코치 에그(삶은 달걀을 다진 채소로 싸서 빵가루를 묻힌 뒤 튀겨서 차게 먹는 것 - 다진 고기로 튀긴건 벌써 다 팔렸드라...)를 사서 맛있게 먹었어. ㅋ 

I bought a vegetarian scotch egg (sadly, meat scotch eggs were sold out.) and was very happy!

친구가 예쁜 화분들 보고 있어서 한컷 찰칵. My friend is looking at small plants at a shop across from a stall full of intersting home made goodies.

아래 분은 맛있는 패이스추리를 팔으셨어. 꿀꺽... A pastry stall!

일요장이 그리 크진 않아. 아래 처럼 저런 텐트들이 도로 양쪽으로 즐비하게 나와있어. The sunday market in Homerton is not that big. There were perhaps 10~12 stalls on either side of the road.

어쨋든, 이렇게 시장 구경하고 캠든 타운으로 향했어~ 캠든 타운은 런던 시내에서 북쪽으로 위치해 있는 관광 명소중 하나로 전세계 사람들을 여기서 다 볼수 있는 것 같아. 패션 스타일도 다들 자유롭고 거리를 따라서 빼곡하게 마켓들이 들어서서 전세계의 음식, 옷, 장신구 등을 팔아. 한국 가게 들도 꽤 많이 봤어.

After a nice stroll in the sunday market, we headed to Camden Town. Camden Town, located North of London attracts people from all over the world. It is like a small globe with numerous races, fashion stypes, and languages. I saw quite a few Korean shops as well in Camden market.

아래 사진은 갑문을 보여주고 있어. 우리나라 인천항도 갑문을 이용해서 선박을 통과 시키잖아. 이날 운이 좋아서 갑문을 열어서 배가 지나가는걸 보게 되었어. 

The picture below shows Camden Lock and we were lucky to see a boat go through the open locks. In Korea, Incheon port uses lock system to let vessels through.  

아래 보면 갑문이 완전 열려서 배가 나오는거 보이지? You see the boat coming through the lock?

사람들이 모여서 이거 신기하다고 사진찍고 그래. 아래 사진에 CAMDEN LOCK(캠든 록 마켓) 이라고 써진 건물 보이지? 여기가 캠든을 대표하는 마켓으로 2층 건물이야. 각점 상점, 노점상들이 즐비하고 여러가지 행사가 열리는 곳이지.

There were many people taking pictures of this scene. Can you see a building with Camden Lock on it? It is a two story building with various stores and stalls selling food, jewerly, carpets, hats, ice cream, etc.  

이 아자씨 거상..멋있지?  I liked this statue of a handsome man!

캠든 록 마켓으로 진입했어. 투명한 지붕을 따뜻한 햇살이 뚫고 들어온다~

So we entered into Camden Lock market. Warm sun came through the glass roof and I was very happy! 

각종 노점상들..인사동 쌈지길 같은 느낌이랄까. Various stalls. They reminded me of Ssamji gil in Insadong, Seoul.

걸어다니다가 재치있는 사인들이 있어서 찍어봤어.

A beautiful indian shop with very vibrant colors!

여긴 각종 가구, 장식품, 양탄자 파는 가게. 색감이 너무 좋아서 그냥 보고만 있어도 눈이 즐겁더라구.

배가 고파서 푸드코트로 갔어. 여기도 특이한 디자인과 색깔들이 맘에 들더라. 정형화되어 있지 않아 자유로운 느낌 이랄까. 배가 고파서 음식 사진 찍는걸 깜빡 했다.. We went to food court area to grab a bite. I like Camden Town's liberal and creative atmosphere. I forgot to take a picture of my mexican lunch as I was busy devouring it.

밥먹고 본 다른 삽이야. 천장이 둥글고 미니멀 해서 한번 찍어 봤어.

Just another shop we looked around. I like its minimalistic round ceiling.

 나오는 길에 본 음식 노점상들...또 먹고 싶더라..

I spotted more stalls with tasty food and had to resist.

왼쪽에 하늘색 창문이 있는 ChinChin 이라는 간판 보이지? 거기 커피가 예술이더라..아이스크림도 넘 맛있어 보였어.. 거의 화학실 수준으로 정교하게 제조하는 거 같은 광경이야.

You see a building with sky blue window on the left of the pic below? It is an ice cream and coffee shop called Chin Chin. I can say I had one of the best coffees I have ever had in London at Chin Chin.

바쁜 하루를 뒤로 하고 이제 다시 걸어서 나왔어. 저녁 노을 사진 찍고 싶었는데 요즘은 해가 길어서 아직도 환하드라구. After an action packed day, we walked out of the market. I wanted to capture the glow of the setting sun but it was still very bright outside as days are getting longer.

이렇게 하루를 끝내고 친구 집에서 초컬릿과 와인 한잔 하면서 수다 열심히 떨고 쓰러져 잤다.

We went back to my friend's house and had a lazy...no...relaxing evening with some naughty chocolate and white wine.

 사랑하는 엄마 아빠,

요 몇일간 여기 날씨가 너무 좋아서 근처 잔디에 가서 선탠하고 다니느라 바쁜 나날을 보내고 있어. ㅋ

22~25도 정도의 온도에 습도가 낮아서 바람이 얼굴에 바삭하게 와닿아. 한국의 습도 높은 여름과 다른점이지.

The weather has been amazing for the past 2 days so I have been out in the sun on the grass at cathedral close for sunbathing. It has been between 22~25 degrees with very crispy breeze so I had to make the most of it while it lasts. It is going to go downhill from tomorrow.. eek. 

어쨋든, 런던에 3/4일로 놀려 갔던거 이제야 올리네.

첫날은 런던 리버풀역 도착해서 런던 브리지역으로 가서 기차로 갈아타서 친구가 사는 크롤리로 갔어. 크롤리는 런던에서 남쪽으로 웨스트 서섹스라는 지역 안에 위치해 있어. 아래 지도의 빨갛게 표시된 부분이 크롤리야.

Anyway, I am finally uploading pictures and stories of my trip to London - sorry for the delay. On the first day, I took a train to Liverpool station and caught another train to Crawley to stay over at a friend's house. Crawley is located in West Sussex. It is not in London but as this was part of my trip I will still talk about what I did here.

런던 브리지 역에서 보이는 '더 샤드'빌딩인데 2013년 완공되었고 런던에서 가장 높은 빌딩이라네. 요즘은 이곳이 관광 핫스팟이야. 나 예전에 런던에 살때 이 건물 한참 올린다고 공사중이었던게 기억나네. 참고로 '샤드'는 영어로 '유리 금속등의 조각'이라는 뜻이야.

Below is the view of 'Shard' from near London Bridge station. The 'Shard' was completed in 2013 and is the tallest building in London. I used work near London Bridge so I remember this building going up bit by bit.  

노리치에서 크롤리 사는 친구집 까지 도착하는데 거의 반나절이 걸렸어. 친구집 가서 친구가 만들어준 맛있는 요리 먹고 와인 마시고 이야기 하다가 나는 쓰러져 잔거 같어. ㅋ 다음날은 친구 소개로 파크런(www.parkrun.com)을 최초로 시도하게 되었어. 파크런은 무료 행사인데 매주 토요일 마다 9시에 공원(파크)에 사람들이 모여서 5킬로미터 조깅을 해. 결승선을 통과하면 내가 통과한 순번과 바코드가 있는 작은 플라스틱 카드 같은걸 한장 건네 받고, 그걸 파크런 운영자들에게 주면 내가 미리 프린트 해서 가져온 내 바코드(그들의 웹사이트에 등록을 먼저 해야해) 를 스캔하고 2~3시간 후에 나에게 이메일이와. 그날 5킬로 뛰는데 몇분 몇초가 걸렸고 같은 나이 그룹에서 몇 퍼센트다 등의 정보를 이메일로 바로 쏴주는 거지. 2004년 부터 이 행사가 시작이 되어서 영국 각지에서 뿐만 아니라 다른 나라에도 퍼지고 있데. 여기서는 아디다스가 큰 후원사 더라구.

Fast-forwarding, It took me nearly half a day to get to Crawley to my friend's. We had a very good catch up session over dinner and a good bottle of white wine. I think I passed out after a few glasses of wine. The next day I got to do my first Park Run(www.parkrun.com). Parkrun is a free weekly(every saturday) timed 5k run which started in 2004 with just 13 runners. Basically people get together at a park and run 5k. After passing the finish line, I get a little plastic card with a barcode and a number which indicates my ranking. Then I take it to the organizer who then will scan the barcode and my ID which I brought to the venue. (I had to register on that website to get an email with my barcode which works as my ID.) 2~3 hours after the park run finishes they send emails to the registered runners with their times and a full list of participants. 

그날 조깅 끝나고 공원에서 찍은 사진들야. 날씨가 넘 좋았어. 5키로 뛰는게 쉽지 않았지만 그 고통을 흠뻑 즐겼던거 같아.

Below are pictures taken after the park run. It was very challenging for me but I enjoyed the challenge and pain!

그냘 350명 정도가 참석해서 같이 뛰었어. The turn-out was about 350 people. 

결승선 지나고 나니 아래 처럼 번호와 바코드가 있는 플라스틱을 주더라구.  223등으로 결승선을 통과 했다는 뜻이래. 인증샷을 올릴려고 했는데 너무 민폐같아서 포기 했어. After I passed the finish line(I was almost dying and had an extremely red face like a lobster.), I was given a plastic card as per below. 223 means my ranking. Well, not bad for a first time runner!  

내가 뛰어다닌 공원 사진이야. 이쁘지? 작은 호수도 있고 나무들도 파릇파릇 했어.

There was a lake at the park.

이렇게 파크런을 열심히 하고 친구집 가서 두번째 아침을 먹었어. 그리고 런던으로 가서 맛있는 한국 분식점 가서 떡볶이랑 김치볶음밥 하고 만두하고 먹고 다른 친구 생일 파티가서 놀았어. 오랫만에 친구들하고 시간을 보내서 너무 좋더라.

After this park run, we went back to my friend's and I had my second breakfast which was so tasty! We went to London for a Korean feast and joined my other friend's birthday party. It was so nice to catch up with friends whom I haven't seen for ages.

영국에서는 30세 생일을 굉장히 거나하게 치뤄. 이 친구가 맥주집에서 자기 생일 30세 생일 파티를 개최했어. 펍에 우리가 도착했을 때 이 친구 이미 약간 취해서 행복한 얼굴을 하고 있더라. ㅋ

In England, the 30th birthday means a lot and the one who is becoming 30 years old drinks much more than usual. This birthday party was held at a pub and my beautiful friend was already a bit tipsy when I got there.

이렇게 둘째날이 훌쩍 지나가 버렸네.

So, this was my second day on my little trip. More to come!
